Essential Dance Film includes acclaimed dance films from around the world, including Flying Lesson, winner of the 2008 Dance on Camera Festival and 2010 Dance on Camera Festival jury prize nominee Little Ease [outside the box], an adaptation of the classic Elizabeth Streb work Little Ease.
The nine films included in Essential Dance Film were selected based on critical acclaim, expert recommendations and stylistic diversity. This collection was designed in order to give the audience member a glimpse of what is possible in dance when the confines of stage and audience are removed.
The films incorporate techniques as diverse as ballet and butoh, while the artists represent some of the world’s best dance companies, including National Ballet of Canada, Martha Graham, Le Ballet du Grand Theatre de Geneve, Tanztheater Wuppertal, Stephen Petronio Company and STREB.
